The commodities \u201cboom has lifted the Australian dollar by more than 43% since the start of 2009\u201d and \u201cpushed up Brazil\u2019s real by even more.\u201d Switzerland escaped this boom, but it\u2019s blessed (or cursed) \u201cwith a commodity prized more than iron ore or soyabeans in uncertain times: safety.\u201d As a result the Swiss franc has shot upward.
