The discovery of the star Proxima Centauri is piquing imaginations. “What is exciting about this new world is not what is known—which, so far, is almost nothing…. It is what is unknown and the possibilities it may contain. It is the chance that there is life beneath that turbulent red sun, and that humans might be able to recognise it from 40 trillion kilometres away.”

Comparisons are being made between Margaret Thatcher, the UK’s first female Prime Minister, and Theresa May, its second. Both entered office at inopportune times, but there are differences as well. “Unlike Thatcher, May lacks charisma. Indeed, she is rather dull but at least she is competent. In the age of Donald Trump, charisma appears to have lost its luster. In these turbulent times, May is ideally placed to take over from David Cameron.”

Thus, recent findings that environmental factors are increasingly shaping the future prospects for many automakers will have profound implications for investors.” Increasingly those car makers taking “climate factors the most seriously are the best set for future growth.” Investors should take note that “policy responses to climate change are driving technological disruption that will have serious investment implications across many sectors.”
