J.B. Pritzker, the Illinois governor, has done “more than this inadequate and lame leader in Washington. Pritzker has donated $2 million of his own personal money, as well as is dealing with China directly to get PPE supplies instead of waiting on this dysfunctional administration. He has taken the bull by the horns to try and save people.”

“Income tax was introduced in the United Kingdom in 1799 to fund the Napoleonic Wars against France. America imposed the tax in 1861 to pay for its civil war. The coronavirus pandemic is not literally a war. But it will lead to massive debts and eventually higher taxes.”

“New York and New Jersey have passed the peak of hospital demand,” but Georgia, Texas and other “southern states “are entering the most dangerous period in which numbers are large, growth is still high and health systems start to buckle.” This is made all the more worrying because seven southern states “have either reopened, or plan to reopen, everything from beaches, gyms and tattoo parlours to shops, restaurants and (in the case of Tennessee) most businesses.”
