A UNESCO report indicates that “some of the world’s most famous glaciers, including in the Dolomites in Italy, the Yosemite and Yellowstone parks in the United States and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania are set to disappear by 2050 due to global warming, whatever the temperature rise scenario.”

And it’s not only our homes and livelihoods that are at risk, but also our culture.” Of 720 UNESCO World Heritage sites, a new study asserts 136, including the Statue of Liberty and Sydney’s famed Opera House, might be left underwater. Other losses will likely extend to Venice, the Tower of London, the leaning tower of Pisa, Westminster Abbey and central Bruges, Naples, Riga and St. Petersburg.
