“Closely watched gauges of long-term inflation expectations in Europe have reached their lowest levels for almost two years, in a sign that investors think central banks can keep lowering interest rates without risking a flare-up in price pressures.” Concerns are also easing in the U.S., with “markets pricing the average long-term inflation rate at 2.4 per cent, down from 2.6 per cent in July.”

“All but one of the 100 cities with the world’s worst air pollution last year were in Asia… with the climate crisis playing a pivotal role in bad air quality that is risking the health of billions of people worldwide.” Of these, 83 cities “were in India and all exceeded the World Health Organization’s air quality guidelines” for PM2.5 “by more than 10 times.”

“Oaktree Capital is risking a showdown with Beijing over control of one of ailing property developer Evergrande’s most-prized projects in mainland China.” Seizing “the Venice development could have a profound effect on the wider restructuring of Evergrande, the property developer that has scrambled to reassure its creditors since its finances started to unravel last year.”
