“The US and European Union are seeing large stockpiles of solar panels after soaring manufacturing capacity fueled a substantial oversupply.” At year end, “an estimated 45 gigawatts of modules in the US and 90 gigawatts in the EU had piled up, nearly twice the forecast installations for 2024.” The glut is leading to “even lower prices” and “fierce competition between manufacturers,” with “less efficient manufacturers… bound to lose out, as overcapacity and low module prices add to financial challenges.”

“Surging U.S. crude stockpiles that have filled storage tanks near capacity are widening the discount on immediate oil deliveries.” Known as contango, this discount may reach the stage of “supercontango” and is unlikely to go away soon.

Syria’s President Bashar Assad apparent use of chemical weapons to kill civilians has gone too far. The international community should “hit him hard.” But first the U.S. and other coalition countries must “present the proof and “deliver an ultimatum” that Assad hand over all remaining chemical stockpiles.
